Helpful electrical tips:

  1. When replacing a light bulb, it’s always a good idea to bring in the old bulb if you can. This makes it easier to match up or cross reference between manufacturers, insuring you get the right bulb every time.
  2. Test smoke detector batteries monthly and replace batteries once a year. Doing so will insure proper operation of your smoke detector when you need it most. Kentucky Lighting carries batteries and replacement smoke detectors.
  3. When doing home electrical repairs, remember to always turn off the circuit breaker. It’s also a good idea to test the circuit with a line tester to make sure the circuit is dead. If you are still not sure, call an electrician. We can provide names of qualified electricians in your area.
  4. Using dimmers on lighting saves money and can double the life of your bulbs. See our Dimmer Information section in Lighting Innovations for more information on this simple yet effective way to cut operating costs.
